Which film transfer method should I choose?
The Budget is a basic direct transfer so if the colour has drifted out (eg gone purple) then that’s
how it will be returned also the the brightness and contrast are adjusted by the camera in auto
mode. In the premium transfer we manually adjust the image as we capture it and in post
production to further enhance (eg if peoples faces are dark) it and do our best to remove colour
castes and enrich the image. If your unsure just get a few reels transferred and look at the
result!
In my experience a lot film was shot with far to much scenery or was not always in focus or the
camera man seemed possessed swinging the camera around. So if you don’t what’s on the film
or if your budget is tight the Budget transfer is quite often the best option.
© 2004-2019 Brismedia. Servicing clients Australia wide Brismedia specialise in the transfer / copy / converting of 8mm film,
Super8 film, to DVD USB and digital files. Telecine film transfers with flicker free transfers rich colour and clear sound.
Covering Brisbane, Arana Hills, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Gold Coast, Cairns,
Newcastle, Wollongong, Sunshine Coast, Geelong, Townsville, Toowoomba, Launceston, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania.
By default all 8mm film reels are inspected and
cleaned with a chemical film prior to transfer to digital.
However if the film is in a poor condition (it has that
Vinegar smell or it has cracked emulsion) we will
transfer without cleaning and assess the result.
Your film conversion is never left alone during a
transfer as a trained technician adjusts the iris of the
camera where necessary in real time to enhance the
important components of your film. We also check for
hairs in the film gate and redo the capture as required.
For home movie transfers the important component is
people. For example a common problem is people in
the shade with bright clouds behind them. We adjust
the levels to get as much details in the darker regions
as possible, sometimes its just not possible but we do
our best.
We then further enhance your film in post production
with our video editing software to remove colour
castes (usually red/purple) and washed out footage.
We also use the king of low light cameras the Sony
PD170 to capture all our film footage to DVD or digital
files which for dark footage helps immensely.
Lastly we have moved to the latest fan cooled high
power LED lighting which gives more even lighting and
depth to the very edge of the digital image and we
have developed our own Telecine transfer unit.
If possible please use our when posting your goods to us,
so we get all your details. If you can’t then a note with your details is fine.
